The completion of Sofyan Amrabat’s loan transfer from Fiorentina allows for the confirmation of his Manchester United jersey number.

Prior to the deadline, on a hectic day for transfers, the Moroccan midfielder joined Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans, and Sergio Reguilon in joining the Reds.

Amrabat will wear the No. 4 shirt at United, we can say now that the procedures are complete.

Phil Jones, who left the club this summer when his contract ended, most recently wore our No. 4 shirt. It had been occupied by the former England defender for 12 years when he moved there from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2011.

The number is typically worn by midfielders or center-backs, and Owen Hargreaves was an example of the latter when he wore it for four seasons starting in the 2007–08 season when he was a crucial part of the Reds’ Premier League and Champions League championships.
