‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’: In an emotional farewell to Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp sheds tears in front of John Bishop and hundreds of fans

Officially stepping down as manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp received a heartfelt farewell on Tuesday night at a city event.

During a moving tribute from Liverpool supporters at his final farewell event on Tuesday night, Jurgen Klopp was visibly brought to tears.

Following an exceptional eight and a half years in charge, Klopp has bid farewell to his role as manager of Liverpool. After leading Liverpool to a 2-0 victory over Wolves at Anfield on May 19, he left the club to attend a unique ceremony honouring his time in charge and his contributions to the community and the team.

‘An Evening With Jurgen Klopp’ took place at the MandS Bank Arena. John Bishop & Peter McDowall hosted the event, which included performances by The Lightning Seeds, The Zutons, and opera artist Alfie Boe, who gave a moving performance of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. The 56-year-old spent the evening reflecting on his experience since taking over as manager in October 2015, which set up a moving finale.

At the beginning, Klopp remained composed even as the crowd stood and sung along with wild applause. But in a matter of moments, the intense feeling took hold, and he was observed sobbing into his hand.

Apart from the emotional exchanges, Klopp also confirmed that he has discussed the challenges ahead with his successor over the evening. 

According to the Mirror, Arne Slot, who will succeed Dutch team Feyenoord, is expected to begin his new position soon.

“I spoke to pretty much everybody on the new leadership team,” Klopp said to the crowd after offering his observations. “He’s a really good manager,” Klopp said of the new boss.

 As he reached the stage, Klopp was met with thunderous applause. He made several unforgettable remarks, such as, “Aside from marrying Ulla, joining Liverpool was the best decision of my life.”

He said he was honoured to be called an honorary Scouser and reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool for the rest of his life. Along with the touching video greetings from celebs like Daniel Craig and Paddy Pimblett, Klopp also spoke with Bishop and McDowall.

 Once Liverpool has been managed, Before setting out on a new career path, Klopp is looking forward to some downtime. After his final game, he said, “Will I ever work again? Naturally, I am aware of my limitations and cannot just sit around. Perhaps I will find another activity. However, I refuse to govern a country or a club for a minimum of a year; I am unable and unwilling to do so.”
