Kobbie Mainoo, a starlet for Manchester United, has had a big change to her body in the past few years.
This season, boss Erik ten Hag has slowly brought the 18-year-old junior player into the first team.
So much so that some Old Trafford fans have asked Ten Hag to start Mainoo more often, the player has shown maturity and skill beyond his years.
One United fan said, “He’s going straight to the top” after seeing how well he played.
The teen hasn’t looked out of place and already seems like he can handle the physical duties of his job.
His strength comes from hard workouts and a healthy diet, which has completely lost the “wiry” look from his body.
Mainoo has changed a lot over the years, surprising even Cheadle and Steve Vare, who has been in charge of FC Gately’s school since he was five years old.
“I went to the Youth Cup final,” he told the Manchester Evening News. He’s almost impossible to recognize.
“Because he’s grown up now and was so little when he was at Cheadle and Gatley.”
“Back then, I would have said he was wiry, very strong, and quick off the mark.”
“He was one of those players who could push the ball past a player, and he could spring forward like electricity.”
“He’s a big kid now, and I thought he played great in the Youth Cup final against Nottingham Forest.”
“When I make my kids laugh by telling them I coached him, they say, ‘But only for a short time.'”
“Cheadle and Gatley clearly only had a small impact on his growth, and as with everything at the grassroots level, it’s just a base for the kids.”
“But everyone at Cheadle and Gatley are absolutely delighted for him and it’s great to see him doing so well.”
Mainoo’s best game for United was last weekend’s 3-0 win over Everton, who are fighting to stay in the Premier League.
And Red Devils great Paul Scholes thinks he should be kept on the team for a longer time after his recent play.
It was a 3-3 draw between United and Galatasaray, and he said, “I think Mainoo needs to play more.”
“Based on what we saw on Sunday against Everton, I believe it is now time to give him a chance.”
“This back four needs to be looked after. This young boy feels fear more than anyone else.
“On Sunday, when everyone was angry, he looked like the real deal.” He’s the only one I can see who can protect the back four better than him.
The next game for Mainoo and his United teammates is on Saturday night, when they go to St. James’ Park to play Newcastle.
